<reading> it's good for you
I am completely and totally addicted to this website Library Thing.

It's this great website where you can catalog your book collection... and for a complete book nerdnik like me it is pure heaven.

Right now I'm having to add books based on memory because all of my books have been boxed up and moved to my parents' house, but I'm hoping to get my entire collection of books catalogued on the site. There really is no purpose for me to do this other than to be able to see a list of all of the books that I have and bask in the glory of my vast book empire ;)

Anyways, the booklovers amongst my LJ friends should totally join because then you could track me down (username is luxlis... shocking) and we could spy on each other's book catalogues.

What a cool website indeed... and a great book collection too!
I(PatrĂcia) worked for a while in a bookshop, and it was really easy to get "lost" there and go through so many good books :)
I was just wondering... since you have a section dedicated to crime... have you ever read the "Inspector Maigret" stories by Georges Simenon?
He has written a series of crime investigation stories that are REALLY addictive... I strongly recommend you.

I haven't heard of this series... I'll have to look into it. Thanks for the recommendation.

As much fun as I think it would be, I should probably NEVER work in a book shop ...I would never bring home any money because I would spend it all on books.

You are welcome... I just adore this series. If you have any problems finding it, please let us know, and we'll send you some :)

Hahah :D You are so right! I only worked there for a short time, but spent most my money on books... all my colleagues did the same thing... the bookshop though was quite nice, as they give the employees that worked there for at least 5 months, a 20% discount. That could be quite a treat ;)

cool! I periodically create a database... over the years 2 or 3 times... (also for my comics ..separately) and go at it hot and heavy... then lose interest, and lose the db... or something.

... and thanks again (said sarcastically, but actually meant sincerely) I bought Fight Club... I didn't want it to be first, but since I am already 2 deep into Chuck I thought I would do it, and then try to decide what to tackle next at a later date. (I also bought speaker for the dead.. the next book after ender's game, so it isn't just you that's bankrupting me :P

I don't know what it is with Chuck Palahniuk, but every one I know (even people who didn't necessarily love his books) got addicted to reading them one right after another. I think I started reading his books around December last year and I had them all read (with the exception of Haunted... his newest book) by the end of February.

and still you mention them around the unsuspecting and impressionable...

how mean... you...(hmm I can't think of a good epithet here.. and I am too lazy to go look up some of the good ones we have posted previously... That's what I get for being lazy...)...

It's odd. As I wrote in my journal.. I was totally sucked in and compelled to read them.(and to buy more obviously).. I "liked" them, but they left me feeling like I had driven on a bumpy road in a car with no suspension...
