  1. beer:
Well... I'm fond of the drink. In fact, on any given weeknight there is a good chance that I am to be found piddling around my house with one of these in my hand... or, even better, a Woodchuck Cider.
  2. chuck palahniuk:
Brilliant writer. I feel like I can learn more about writing from reading one of his books than from any other book actually written about writing.
  3. fight club:
The most famous of Chuck Palahniuk's books. In some ways, I guess, I also like the idea of a fight club... sort of like my idea to have a place, like a shooting range, where you could pay to break pieces of glass against a wall.
  4. harry potter:
Yes... I'm a giant nerd for the Harry Potter. I successfully avoided ever reading a Harry Potter book until after the first movie came out and I just couldn't resist it anymore. I just think they're brilliant books... Yes they are children's books, but when you as an adult read them you don't feel like you're reading a children's book.
  5. kirsty maccoll:
Kirsty MacColl is a lovely Scottish singer that had some notoriety in the 1980s for collaborating a lot with Shane McGowan and The Pogues. She sings on one of my very favorite songs of all time 'Fairytale of New York'. She died in a freak boating accident in the Caribbean not that long ago.
  6. marginalia:
One of a very few poems that I like. It's written by Billy Collins. Aside from liking the poem about marginalia, I also like marginalia itself. Marginalia being the little notes written in the margins of books. It's like eavesdropping while you're reading.
  7. northern renaissance art:
My very favorite style of art. When I started learning about painters like Jan Van Eyck, Hieronymous Bosch and Robert Campin I really started falling in love with art.
  8. rhoda:
Rhoda was Mary Tyler Moore's sidekick on the Mary Tyler Moore show and was, frankly, the most interesting and funny part of the show. Eventually Rhoda got her own show called 'Rhoda' which followed her after she moved back to New York City. It's probably my favorite classic tv show after the Dick Van Dyke show.
  9. talk radio:
If I could spend all day, every day doing nothing but listening to talk radio I would be a happy girl.
  10. w.w.j.n.d.:
This is another interest related to Chuck Palahniuk. This one comes from my favorite Chuck Palahniuk book 'Choke'. In the book the main character finds out that he may be the related to Jesus and thus might be the messiah. This horrifies him... so he freaks out and starts trying to live his life based on the philosophy of What Would Jesus Not Do?
